SIGNAL CABINS THAT MOVED WITHIN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
The signal cabins listed below are those known to have been moved, relocated or used for other purposes within Western Australia.
The diligent reader of 'Archive' pages may note that some of the signal cabins led several lives, and with different names at different locations. This was due to the fact that the W. A. G. R. made good use of exisitng structures, especially in the early years. They moved signal cabins to different locations whenever the need dictated - if rail traffic declined, or if a cabin was no longer needed due to a change in safeworking methods that did not warrant a cabin, then the cabin was (if possible) given a new life elsewhere. Happily, this methodology has continued into what is now called the 'Preservation Era' with some signal cabins being moved to preservation groups and museums. This page is intended to track the cabins that where so moved, during their working lives and beyond.
